No More Victims

Portland Oregon: Mustafa Abed Back in Jordan

December 5th, 2008 | Posted by Maxine

I just spoke to Ahmed and Mustafa at the No More Victims apartment in Amman, Jordan. They arrived a few hours ago without problem. They are tired but are surrounded by the No More Victims staff/friends in Jordan. They were sharing a nice meal when I called. It sounded very happy there!

Ahmed said over and over, “I love you, Portland!!”

Mustafa sounded very good.

I also talked to Maki, who is the No More Victims coordinator there in Jordan – originally from Fallujah. He is a wonderful person and expressed so much appreciation from the people of Iraq to Portlanders for helping to tell their story. I feel very good that the No More Victims network will enable us to communicate in order to monitor and support Mustafa’s health care needs. We are so grateful for this connection.

I cannot recall if we forwarded Maki’s message that came a few days ago, but here it is to all of you– No More Victims friends and supporters:

From Maki on Nov 29, 2008:

I am more grateful to you than you to me. I lived the suffering of my people moment by moment for years and I was so close to their wounds, but you felt for them despite all the propaganda and the far distance that separates you from them. That indicates how good humans you are. I will do my very best, as I always did, to let my people know about you and others like you in a desperate attempt to maintain love for peace inside their exhausted and tired souls. They must know that there are good people in the country that killed their beloved ones and destroyed their country.

I cannot put my love for you guys and all those who help others in simple words. All I can say is Thank you and God bless you and your families.

All the best,
Maki
