FIRST PORTLAND, OREGON COMMUNITY NO MORE VICTIMS PLANNING MEETING

(Organize to welcome an injured Iraqi child to Portland for treatment
& powerfully tell their story!)

THURSDAY, JANUARY 3, 2008
7 PM
FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH
1101 SW 12TH AVE.

ALL are WELCOME!!!
Also, here is a summary of the December 7-9th weekend activities of the No More Victims Portland project to bring a wounded child from Iraq for medical care. For all of you who came to one of the events with the No More Victims (NMV) Founding Director Cole Miller and NMV Outreach Coordinator Ann Cothran, thank you so much. For those of you unable to make it this past weekend, there will be lots of ways to learn more and to get involved.

  • Community meetings, a brunch and worship services were well attended as Cole and Ann spoke about No More Victims and showed videos of injured children being warmly welcomed and receiving treatment in cities across the U.S.
  • Lots of Portland people expressed excitement for the project and committed to getting involved. Our mailing list is growing. People took No More Victims videos and promised to show them to other groups.
  • St. Luke’s Lutheran Church contributed generously to our project, as did a number of generous and committed individuals. A fundraising dinner brought in significant money. Already, we have raised approximately $13,000.
  • Portland is the next city in line to receive a child from Iraq. We should be receiving medical records shortly.
